WCG Friends is a vital part of the social life of the Gallery. It aims to bring together people who support and nurture the
role and activities of the Gallery as well as to stimulate and educate communities within the Illawarra region.
In all of its activities WCG Friends are committed to supporting the enhancement of the link between the gallery and
the Wollongong community. It achieves this in a number of ways (i) through a membership base which raises funds
for acquisitions programme - the highlight of which was the purchase of artwork by quietly esteemed Australian
treasure May Barrie title Flow in 2011 (ii) sponsorship of the 2011-12 Artist in Resident Jenny Tubby – Octagonal
Rooms.
A survey of our membership between April and May 2012 provided us with valuable data about the expectations and ongoing commitment of the current membership. As a result of the survey the committee commissioned a sub
committee to develop a 5 year strategic plan for the years 2012 -2017. See attached.
